Who we are!

The East African Association of Neurological Surgeons (EAANS) is a non-profit professional association of Neurosurgeons registered in Kenya in accordance with the Societies Act. EAANS is a member of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS). The main objective of the Society is to promote public good through the advancement of Neurological Surgery and dissemination of Scientific Knowledge

Education and Research

Educating and training Neurosurgeons remains integral across the entire spectrum of EAANS activities. EAANS has a collaborative working arrangement with University of Nairobi’s department of Surgery/Kenyatta National Hospital as well as Moi University/Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital/ Kenyatta University Teaching, Research & Referral Hospital (KUTTRH) for the advancement of training and equipping Neurosurgeons. EAANS is also a member of the World Federation of Neurological Societies (WFNS)

The East African Journal of Neurological Sciences is the official journal of the East African Association of Neurological Surgeons (EAANS). The East African Journal of Neurological Sciences (EAJNS) publishes original research on clinical and experimental neurosurgery, clinical neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuroradiology, neuropathology, neuro-otology, neuro-oncology, and molecular biology.

Quality Neurosurgical care!

Improving the quality of Neurosurgical care leads to greater access for patients, fewer complications and better outcomes, thus lowering the cost of care. Our quality improvement programs have improved quality in neurosurgical conditions like head and spine trauma care, brain and spinal cord tumours, brain aneurysms, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, and in overall neurosurgical care.
